Welcome to Moms Beneath the Blue!
Backstory:
Originally from Maryland, I received my B.S. in Finance from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019 then went on to live along the Florida panhandle to be with my husband. I have been diving for 10+ years now and am a PADI Scuba Instructor. That passion led me to rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles. While there, I was encouraged to go back to school where I received my M.S. in Biology from University of West Florida, where my thesis focused on marine annelids (Spionidae), specifically investigating mitochondrial genome rearrangements and phylogenetics. Currently, I am in the process of publishing my first two papers and working as a molecular ecologist, specializing in marine population genetics.
I am a mother of one-year-old twin girls. Although I am a mother, I have interests beyond being a parent and wife. Motherhood has been an isolating journey at times, especially when I struggle to find others who share similar pursuits. I crave deeper conversations, beyond parenting tips and military spouse drama, and meaningful connections with like-minded women who want more out of life.
The blog:
Through this blog, I seek to discuss my journey, marine research, conservation, travel, photography, diving, book reviews, and a touch of motherhood.
My heart belongs to the sea, and I’d love to connect with others who feel the same pull toward adventure, learning, and meaningful friendships. I hope you find something here that resonates with you!
